SYFY After Dark is a half-hour pilot featuring host Jackie Jennings and her (not-so-trustworthy) talking cat, Mr. Scribbles. Over the course of a half hour, they explore various pop culture topics with other SYFY hosts.
I was one of three editors on this pilot episode. Because it was essentially a variety show with different segments, we were able to smoothly break it up into segments for each of us to handle.
I was the colorist on the project. Because this was filmed during the height of the pandemic, there was some sub-optimal footage that I had to finesse to get to blend in with the rest.
I was fortunate enough to edit segments starring Whitney Moore (Birdemic) and Grant Imahara (Mythbusters). Of all the segments, I’m proudest of the Sandman segment (included here) where Whitney Moore charmingly recounted the story of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy tale… years before it became a hit Netflix series!
This was tragically Mr. Imahra’s last on-screen appearance and we had to figure out a way to respectfully pay tribute to him within the episode.
